We have all heard about emerging economies and the potential impact this growth will have on our own marketplace. One way to prepare for this new competition is to increase our skill base and training is fundamental to any such programme.

The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) is the organisation responsible for making England better skilled and more competitive and they run the ‘Train to Gain’ program me.

Right now Train to Gain are offering SME’s a ‘Business Leaders’ grant. The grant is for training for the business leader and their team and is for up to 60% of the cost of the training and to a maximum value of £1,200.

The criteria to qualify for the grant are as follows:

  • You must employ a minimum of ten people
  • The owner of the business must attend the training (others can also attend)
  • You must apply for the grant by the end of March
