Regulatory updates – July 2010

- Revised safety and testing requirements for pyrotechnic items
From 4 July 2010, fireworks will have to meet new safety standards before they can be put on the market
- Introduction of the new EU organic production logo
From 1 July 2010, you must start labelling pre-packaged organic products using the new EU organic farming logo
- Changes to methods to detect and control potato cyst nematodes
From 1 July 2010, you may have to apply new requirements to detect and control potato cyst nematodes on your land
- Labelling requirement for foods containing certain food colours
From 20 July 2010, you must place a warning label on food and drink products that contain particular food colours
- New organic standards for aquaculture animals and seaweed
From 1 July 2010, there are new rules for UK businesses that farm or process organic fish, molluscs or seaweed
- Changes to the labelling requirements for animal feedstuffs
From 1 September 2010, the rules on feed ingredient and feed additive declarations and pet food labelling will change.
