Happy New Year!
Is it good to be back? Yes, of course; we’re all creatures of habit and I think that, although it’s really good to have a break, spend some extra time with our families, relax and recharge our batteries, it is also good to get back into our routines. It won’t be long before the evenings get lighter and we will all look forward to spring, summer holidays, and everything in between – not forgetting, of course, the FIFA World Cup in June.
As I write this, quite a few of us are snowbound. Many have been unable to travel to the office but fortunately it is possible for the team to work from home remotely. During the heaviest snowfall, we were exchanging photographs of some very pretty snow scenes, and tales of abandoned cars and journeys that would normally take half an hour but were taking an unbelievable amount of time. Elizabeth managed to get home in a mere three hours, it took Andrew Gray two and a half hours by car which he had to abandon and then go a further 45 minutes on foot, Andy Scott had a seven-hour journey, Pauline had a major expedition which finally got her home at 10.30pm having left the office at 3.50pm; but Frances beat everyone with an 8.5 hour journey home to Basingstoke. Andrew Neale tells me that it took him 50 minutes instead of his usual 45, because there was a slow-walking “young lady” in high heels in front of him who wouldn’t get a move on!
But enough of my ramblings!
Our Business Development Workshops (BDWs) will be starting again next month on Wednesday 24 February at our offices in Theale. These workshops provide an introduction to four key areas that we work on with our clients: using accounts, saving tax, improving profitability and business development using E-Myth principles. We already have quite a number of bookings for this workshop, so if you would like to attend please let me know as soon as possible. To find out more, click here

Happy New Year. Good to be back.
