Continuing the theme of things to frighten you is the draconian measure announced recently by the Government. It is the death of tax and National Insurance exemptions for childcare vouchers.
Full details of the proposals are expected to be announced in the pre-budget report later in the year.
The relief is expected to be abolished for new claimants from 5 April 2011, but employees currently receiving vouchers may still be able to claim relief until April 2015.
The Government’s reason for the withdrawal of the relief is because too many taxpayers are claiming the exemption!
